Statement of Purpose

Officially Withdrawn

The “Officially Withdrawn” Group has been meeting informally since 1993, and is made up of retired Hennepin County Library staff members.  All retirees, regardless of classification or number of hours worked, are eligible for membership in this Group.

The purpose of the Group is twofold: to give retirees the opportunity to keep in touch with colleagues through meetings and projects, and to support the mission of the Hennepin County Library in whatever way possible.

The Group has the full support of Library Administration and regular communication occurs between the Administration and the Group.

The Archives Project, the first major project of the Group,  is focused on developing the historical story of the Library System.  Through the organization of the oral history videos/DVD’s and cassettes, photographs, clippings, documents, and the presentation of rotating exhibits  in the display case at the Administrative Offices, the Library’s story is being preserved.
